TAFE Queensland has implemented a range of proactive measures to limit the impact of COVID-19 and to support our students to continue their study.

We are open, and delivering on-campus.

The Queensland border with New South Wales remains closed.

Stay informed about updates to the Queensland Border Declaration Pass by checking the Queensland Government and Queensland Health websites.

Queensland Health is urging anyone who is feeling unwell in the areas of South Brisbane and West Moreton to stay home and immediately get tested.

Any individuals who were present at the locations in health alerts at the relevant times are asked to immediately self-quarantine and contact 13 HEALTH.

Please do not come to campus if you are unwell.

In response to new cases in Queensland, we have renewed our focus on ensuring our campuses are safe for staff and students. Here are some of the things we are doing:

  • Conducting regular and enhanced cleaning across all campuses
  • Encouraging staff to download the COVIDSAFE app
  • Completed our COVID Safe plans for any hospitality, beauty and fitness industry public-facing services we offer on-campus
  • Staff have completed our COVID Safe training
  • Promoting physical distancing, good hygiene and room capacities
  • Continuing to monitor the situation and assess the risk
  • Made soap more readily available at handwashing stations.
  • Reduced class sizes or split them
  • Moved classes to bigger rooms where possible
  • Requesting that students complete a simple wellness check before being admitted to any campus-based activities

IMPORTANT: We are continually evaluating our approaches to workplace health, safety and wellbeing issues for our staff and students based on advice provided by Queensland Health. Our plan may change, and if it does, we will contact affected stakeholders.

Latest information

TAFE Queensland is open, but we're doing some things differently. In Semester 2, 2020 we look forward to welcoming many of our students back on campus, but you will notice some changes. With physical distancing measures still in place on-campus, we’ve moved the theoretical components of many of our courses online, to reduce the need for you to come to campus.

As restrictions ease, and it is safe to do so, we will gradually bring back on-campus delivery. Many of our staff are continuing to work remotely, reducing the number of people on campus, and to ensure you can still access the same level of service from us.

  • If you’re unwell, don’t come to campus
  • Practise physical distancing and good hygiene; wash your hands before you come to campus, between classes, and when you leave
  • Only stay on-campus for as long as you need.

If you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, you are requested to self-isolate for 14 days following the last exposure.

If you complete your full 14-day isolation follow the advice of Queensland Health.

If you are a student and you took self-isolation precautions please contact us on 1300 308 233 to discuss returning to class.

Safety and wellbeing is TAFE Queensland’s top priority and we will continue to follow the advice provided by Queensland Health, who is leading the State Government’s response to COVID-19.
